Terry’s tutoring reflects his total commitment to helping young people improve their thinking skills. Long recognized for his novel and clever ways to introduce his readers to mathematics and physics through the use of puzzles and games, Terry’s tutoring services have also opened the doors to insight and improved academic achievement for many students through the years.
His initial experience as a tutor began when he was an undergraduate at the University of Nebraska (Omaha). He was given permission to help several students who were struggling with learning algebra through the standard linear teaching approach. From the very beginning, his nontraditional methods offered his classmates a new perspective on how to learn and enjoy mathematics.
 Although his tutoring is creative, upbeat, and totally involving, he is quick to point out to students and parents alike: nothing can replace the hard work and focused mental energy that are required to build solid thinking skills. As a certified Kaplan instructor, he knows what tools and practice exercises are needed to build a learning foundation to ensure success. The dedicated application of those building blocks is then up to the individual student, aided by full support and encouragement from Terry along the way.
As a long-term member of MENSA, The Epimetheus Society, The One in a Thousand Society, and the International High IQ Society, Terry draws from his writing and lecture experiences to organize knowledge-building within working units that make sense to students. Equally important, his delivery methods are firm but never condescending, and his use of good-spirited humor is always present throughout each tutoring session. All of his students agree: Terry is a wonderful teacher —and a gifted guide to help learning happen.

Pricing
Terry Stickels charges a reasonable fee for his tutoring sessions (normally one hour in length), plus a small surcharge to cover travel expenses to and from the student’s home.
